Nearly everybody else has left the region for fear of their safety, so looting abandoned houses and forgotten vehicles are the only way to survive. Wolves, bears, and other fauna are the only inhabitants, except for one or two other people during the story mode. It's a very cliché concept: in both the story and the sandbox mode, players assume the role of a pilot whose plane has crash landed in the wintery lands of northern Canada due to a mysterious EMP effect. And boy oh boy, it couldn't have gone poorer for the Canada-based developers. The hype continued to escalate for the story on the subreddit and Steam forums for the game, but it wasn't until the full release that players got to taste the narrative for the first time. Hinterland Studio said the story mode was in the works, but after some time there was little news and fans began to grow impatient. Sandbox was the only mode available, where the goal was simply to survive for as long as possible.

When The Long Dark first hit Steam's early access program nearly three years ago, we were greeted by a barebones, yet mechanically solid and aesthetically stunning survival experience. After having first played it at release we have now revisited and scored the game as it is. If it really bothers you, just add a couple of drops into a moisturizer to mask it but so you still get the benefits.Forewarning: we played The Long Dark on PlayStation 4, and your experience regarding bugs, glitches and crashes may differ on other platforms. So bottom line please don't be put off by the smell, it's honestly not bad at all just needs getting used to if you're not used to omega-rich oils like hemp seed, etc. Unlike what I tested of the trilogy's rosehip oil, didn't have much of this smell- and also didn't do much for my skin, I think the omegas we're preserved very well during extraction.

If you smell a cod liver or salmon oil, you will also have this smell, albeit with an added actual fish smell lol.īut to me, the smell of this rosehip oil is just testament to the high quality of the oil- you know the extraction method has kept the omegas intact and there's a lot of it. If you smell a cold pressed organic hemp seed oil, it will smell almost identical to this rosehip, again this is because of the high concentration of omegas in hemp seed oil. It's quite rich and oily smelling for this reason and I believe that's why one or two people have compared it to a fish smell. I have a VERY keen sense of smell to me (although it sounds weird) but I can smell the omega 6+3s. Just to add onto my previous review, I was going to mention the smell but thought it wasn't too important so decided not to, but then I noticed a few reviewers mentioned they dislike the smell so thought may as well write about it.
